Antique Larter & Sons Mens Ruby Ring
Item: RNG2368
This magnificent men's ring is set with a large rectangular cut created ruby. The ruby is approximately 11 carats and is in extremely good condition. The 14K yellow gold setting is meticulously detailed, substantial in weight and finely finished.
Larter & Sons is one of America's oldest and finest jewelry manufacturers. Founded in 1865, the firm became known for their exquisite line of finely crafted men's jewelry.
Experiments in producing synthetic rubies began in the 1800s. By the late 1890's to early 1900's production had begun in earnest. Known for their evenness in hue, pigeon blood red color and high clarity, created rubies became a popular stone choice particularly in men's rings.
This is the finest example of an antique created ruby ring I have ever seen. The size of the stone is approximately 14mm x 12mm. The ring is a size 10 1/4 leading edge, but can easily be sized for a perfect fit. Circa 1910.
