Antique Micro Mosaic Parthenon 14K Gold Brooch Pendant

This antique 14K micro mosaic brooch depicts the Parthenon of Athens Greece. The glass tesserae are inlaid in a black onyx tablet surrounded by a 14K yellow gold filigree frame. The brooch has a locking C clasp with a folding pendant bail. Mosaic jewelry was often purchased as a tourist memento when touring Italy, especially during the Grand Tour era of 17th c. - 19th c.
The onyx oval tablet measures 1" x 3/4". The brooch measures 1 1/4" x 1 1/8". The brooch weighs 9.1 grams.
Good condition. The frame, clasp and bail are in very good condition. The onyx tablet has minor chips and wear along the top edge. There is minor tesserae loss in the lower left hand corner. There is a chip in the onyx on the reverse. Price reflects condition.
