Antique Victorian 18K Carnelian Old European Diamond Ring - Circa 1917 Yellow Gold Hand Engraved

This rare and beautiful antique ring in an ornate 18K yellow gold frame with one rectangular carnelian hardstone plaque set with an Old European cut diamond weighing approximately .25 carat. The diamond is held by a raised yellow gold bezel, and has a clarity of VS. The floral engraved shank is hand engraved on the inside of the band in script, RLW to LGD 2-6-17. The ring has a rubbed marking for gold and tests 18K. While the ring engraving dates the ring to 1917, the style of the ring is very much Victorian. It is possible the ring was inscribed years after it was made, or since styles were much slower to change was made on or near 1917 in the Victorian style.
The ring measures 1 1/16 x 9/16. Weight is 8.0 grams. The ring is a size 9 3/4. If this ring needs to be sized please contact me before purchase to discuss.
