This beautiful Abstract Modernist brooch is by enamelist and silversmith, Oystein Balle of Stavanger Norway. Executed in sterling silver, the rectangular brooch features colorful enamels in abstract geometric design. The silver repousse is filled with vitreous enamel colors including white, rust red, lemon yellow, green, sky blue, and cobalt blue. The brooch is secured by a C clasp with push up safety. Oystein Balle, born in Stavanger Norway (1928-1998) was a fine Scandinavian silversmith and enamelist. Known for his use of colorful vitreous enamels in abstract modernist, and biomorphic designs. His work was produced primarily in the 1960s - 1970s, and is known for its quality workmanship, innovative design, and vibrant colors.
Measures 1.75 x 1 5/8. Weighs 13.8 grams.
