This beautiful estate 14K yellow gold ring is set with one half carat oval cut tanzanite, surrounded by a halo of twelve round brilliant diamonds totaling .66 carat. The tanzanite is a brilliant medium violet blue. Tanzanite was named by Tiffany & Co, and was sold exclusively by Tiffany from 1968 through the 1970s. Gem quality tanzanite has a beauty that rivals that of the finest sapphire, with an exotic twist of velvety violet undertones unique to this gem. Demand in the 1990s was so great, that in the early 2000s it was added as the birthstone for December (the first time the birthstone list was changed since 1912), and is the gemstone gift for the 24th anniversary.
