Victorian Gilt Cameo Brooch

Set in the Rococo Revival Style, the gilt brass metal frames a beautifully carved cameo with the unusual subject of Hera and Zeus, symbolized with the eagle. Hera was the goddess of marriage, and this brooch was likely presented to a new bride as a wedding gift. The brooch measures 1 3/4" by 1 3/4". Circa 1870.
