Vintage 14K Sapphire Bumble Bee Pin

This beautiful estate 14K bumble bee brooch is hand set with twenty round natural blue sapphires having a total weight of 2 1/2 carats. Executed in 14K yellow gold, the honey bee has detailed gold wings, and may be worn as a pin or pendant. Historically bees have symbolized immortality and rebirth, and have been associated with kings and royalty, most notably Napoleon. The natural sapphires are dark navy blue. Signed 14K 585 with maker's mark.
Measures 1" x 1 1/8". The brooch weighs 5.5 grams.
